Perfect for a facade, an interior wall, or even a decorative corner, it will add character and charm to your spaces.

The cladding stone or cladding tile is a decorative wall covering in natural stone, reconstituted stone, brick or terracotta. It is ideal for dressing your interior walls and exterior with style and character. The products are often offered as wall tiles, which makes installation easier and creates a striking trompe-l'œil effect. Their low thickness makes them a perfect choice for a room such as a bathroom, a living room or a façade.

Many types of natural stone are used for wall cladding: travertine, slate, quartzite, limestone or terracotta, each offering a style all its own and a varied palette of colours, from light beige to deep black.

Cutting natural stone cladding strips is an essential step to achieve a clean, precise and professional result. It allows you to adjust the strips to the exact dimensions of your wall, particularly at corners, openings (doors, windows) or specific finishes.

For effective cutting, it is strongly recommended to use an angle grinder fitted with a diamond disc. This type of disc is specially designed to work on hard materials such as natural stone, travertine, terracotta or slate. It guarantees a clean cut, without chipping, and preserves the reference of the product by avoiding any breakage.

Before starting, set up on a stable surface, preferably a cutting table or a workbench. Mark the area to be cut with a grease pencil or a suitable marker. Then hold the strip firmly and proceed with the cut, following your mark. Remember to wear personal protective equipment: cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses and a dust mask are essential.

This method is valid for interior wall cladding as well as for exterior cladding. It is ideal for cutting wall strips, but also for creating finishes for external corners or adapting to wall irregularities. Don't forget to recalculate your quantities to allow for losses due to cutting.

To clean your cladding stones, simply use a little water and soap and accessories such as a soft cloth or a soft brush, nothing more effective. Start by cleaning them after installation to remove dust once the work is finished. A feather duster to remove dust is also enough.

To clad an exterior wall with style and durability, several types of cladding are available depending on the desired effect, the preferred material and the technical constraints of the job. At Minéral Pierre Naturelle, we offer a wide selection of wall cladding classified by style to suit all outdoor projects:

  • IRREGULAR cladding : Ideal for a natural look, this type of cladding imitates the raw appearance of stone. The modules are made up of irregular blocks that blend perfectly into an authentic setting, such as a country house or landscaped low wall. It requires precise layout planning and a good quantity survey to anticipate offcuts.
  • PRE-ASSEMBLED cladding : These cladding strips are mounted in ready-to-install panels, saving considerable time on site. The look remains natural, with pronounced relief, and the regularity of the modules ensures simple and quick installation, even for large surfaces.
  • OPUS INCERTUM cladding : This polygonal stone format offers a very rustic, Mediterranean effect. It is perfect for garden walls, plinths or old-style façades. The material, often quartzite or limestone, varies depending on the reference. This type of cladding requires a certain skill to install.
  • RECTANGULAR cladding : Made of strips cut to a regular format, this cladding provides a clean, contemporary style. It is perfectly suited to the exterior walls of modern houses or extensions. Its shape allows linear installation, which is faster and has no visible joint depending on the method.

  • TRADITIONAL RAW cladding : Made of split or raw natural stones, this cladding gives an authentic effect, close to old masonry. It is much appreciated for traditional buildings, boundary walls or renovations. Each reference shows nuances of colour and natural variations in texture.
  • TERRACOTTA cladding : Offering a warm and original look, terracotta cladding strips are perfect for Mediterranean or industrial atmospheres. They withstand bad weather well if installed with an adhesive and grout suited to exterior use.

A diamond blade is the most recommended for cutting cladding strips in natural stone or reconstituted stone. It gives clean, chip-free cuts, which is ideal for corners or precise finishes. This type of blade is also suitable for materials such as terracotta, slate, or travertine.

Installation without grout joints is ideal for creating a raw and contemporary effect with cladding strips in natural stone. It is perfectly suited to wall products in quartzite, travertine or slate, available in stock in our range at a very good price.

Start by coating the interior wall with a suitable adhesive. Place the cladding strip against the wall, pressing the base against a horizontal batten. Tap lightly with a rubber mallet to ensure good adhesion to the wall. Stick 3 to 4 wall strips along the batten, then continue with the next row up.

Regularly check that it is level with a spirit level to keep the wall covering perfectly straight. This method allows quick and precise installation, with no need for grout joints, ideal in a living room, a hallway or any decorative interior wall.

Our ranges of grout-free wall cladding are available by the piece or by the pallet, with fast delivery from our stock.

On external corners, laying cladding tiles requires a little precision to achieve a natural, neat finish. To do this, simply lay a new tile slightly overlapping the edge of the previous one, alternating the cladding strips on each course.

This regular interlocking avoids a visible vertical alignment and gives an effect that is smoother and more natural, in harmony with the style of your wall. This method works perfectly with our wall products in natural stone, reconstituted stone, terracotta, travertine, or slate, whether they are pre-assembled, rectangular or irregular types.

Several products also include corner pieces, which makes finishing the corners of exterior façades or interior walls easier. Available in stock, these products are offered at an excellent price, by the square metre or by the pallet, with fast delivery.

Before installing wall cladding in natural stone, it is essential to make sure that the substrate is compatible, clean and perfectly dry. There are many suitable types of substrate: plaster, cement, concrete, concrete blocks, bricks, or even wood.

All these materials provide a solid base for durably fixing your wall tiles, whether they are in travertine, slate, reconstituted stone or terracotta. It is advisable to dust and degrease the wall before applying the adhesive and starting installation.

This step is crucial to ensure the durability of the wall covering, especially if it is to be installed outdoors or in a damp room such as a bathroom or a kitchen. All our wall products come with technical data sheets detailing the references, installation conditions, packaging per piece or per pallet, as well as delivery options from our stock. A wide choice for all styles of walls and at every price point!

For certain types of wall cladding, particularly in raw natural stone or reconstituted stone, grout joints are essential to reinforce the stability and aesthetics of the wall.

After a few hours of drying, prepare a special grout mortar for natural stones. Place a small amount on a float, then push it into the gaps using a jointing iron. You can also use a piping bag for more precision. Then smooth the grout joint and remove the excess with a brush.

In damp rooms such as the bathroom or kitchen, or for exterior walls, it is recommended to apply a water-repellent treatment over the entire surface to protect your cladding strips against moisture.

Our wall products in travertine, quartzite, slate or terracotta are available in several styles (irregular, rectangular, rough) and at competitive prices. They can be delivered quickly from our stock, by the square metre or by the pallet, with each reference detailed on our product page.
