A granite border is a stone element cut from granite, a very dense and resistant igneous rock. This type of border is mainly used to:

  • Delimit traffic or planting areas.
  • Retain soil in raised beds.
  • Structure the space around a paver, a wall, a staircase, a step or a terrace.
  • Add a touch of lasting elegance to the outdoor landscaping.

Granite is particularly appreciated for its strength, its noble appearance, its frost resistance and its minimal maintenance. It is one of the most popular types of natural stone in high-quality landscaping projects, whether private or public.

The granite is one of the most reliable materials on the market. Rot-proof, virtually unalterable, it fears neither bad weather nor impacts. It is the stone of choice for demanding projects, including urban roads, public parks or landscaping projects. As a specialist supplier for more than 90 years in natural stone, we see that granite remains the number one choice of landscapers and local authorities looking for maintenance-free longevity.

The standard dimensions of granite kerbs depend on the intended use, but the most commonly offered are:

  • 60 x 20 x 6 cm
  • 100 x 25 x 8 cm

These sizes suit most outdoor landscaping projects, whether a small decorative kerb or a vehicle-accessible kerb. At Minéral, we offer these products in stock, which can be seen in our showroom or via online sales. Each piece is carefully worked to ensure easy installation and a neat finish.

Granite is a natural stone renowned for its durability, its aesthetics and the richness of its colors. At Minéral Pierre Naturelle, we select our granite edgings according to technical criteria (strength, frost resistance) and aesthetic criteria, to ensure perfect consistency with your other materials: pavers, pool copings, steps or paving.

Thanks to its natural shades, from light grey to deep black through warmer tones, granite suits all styles of landscaping, whether classic, modern or landscape-style.

➡︎ Our field expertise allows us to guide you toward the most suitable finishes and colors for your project, taking into account the existing ground, the desired contrasts and the intended uses. Discover below the models we keep in stock with their detailed technical characteristics.

Our products:

A dark, elegant granite, perfect for structuring a modern garden. Its deep dark grey color brings contrast while keeping a natural look. Also available in a bush-hammered finish, ideal for those looking for a surface relief.

A warm granite with a pinkish tint, with very soft natural shades. It blends particularly well into flower gardens or landscaping in a more Mediterranean or rustic style.

This granite with a warm sand tone stands out for its natural brilliance and its ease of integration into dry, bright environments or those with southern influences.

A timeless classic. SILVERSAND granite offers a light, luminous look, suited to traditional projects as well as more contemporary designs. It is also available in a bush-hammered finish for those who want a more pronounced visual texture.

The installation of a granite edging is simple, but requires a few precautions to ensure good stability and an attractive result. At Minéral Pierre Naturelle, we regularly support landscapers and private customers in their projects.

Here are the key steps:

Installation steps:

  1. Mark out the layout using stakes and a string line.
  2. Dig a trench of sufficient depth (15 to 20 cm).
  3. Prepare a mortar bed or a sub-base of compacted gravel.
  4. Lay the edgings by sealing them in the mortar or by wedging them firmly on the bedding layer.
  5. Check the alignment and verticality using a level.
  6. Leave to dry for 24 h then fill the gaps with topsoil or stabilized sand depending on the location.

The granite edgings are sufficiently heavy and strong to stay firmly in place, even without sealing, in simple uses such as marking out flower beds.

One of the major advantages of granite is how easy it is to maintain. It is unaffected by frost, bad weather or UV. Here are the best practices to follow:

For the routine maintenance of your granite edging, a simple water jet is enough to remove dust and light dirt. If moss, green stains or organic matter (leaves, flowers, bird droppings) develop, we recommend using products suitable for natural stone, such as those in the Lithofin range available in our Minéral branches.

Concentrated moss remover ALLEX is particularly effective: diluted in 9 to 10 litres of water, it is applied by spraying onto the stone, with no need for immediate rinsing. It works naturally for 2 to 3 weeks, then the residues are washed away by rain or a simple rinse with clean water. This product has the advantage of preserving the integrity of the stone, unlike high-pressure cleaning, which is often too aggressive.

For more stubborn dirt (ingrained moss, crushed fruit, bird droppings, etc.), Exterior Cleaner is applied undiluted. After a few minutes, a rinse with clean water is enough, and a scrubbing brush can be used for very dirty surfaces.

➡︎ At Minéral, the products we recommend are the same as those used on our own projects. We test every solution in real conditions to guarantee effective maintenance, without damaging the stone, and to preserve the appearance of your outdoor landscaping.
