Kirchheimer limestone terrace in Saarlouis

A Kirchheimer limestone terrace in Saarlouis, Saarland: about 70 m² of 3 cm thick random-length paving.

Kirchheimer limestone terrace in Saarlouis

The project

The owners of a detached house in Saarlouis wanted to replace their concrete slabs with a light natural stone terrace with a natural look.

The choices

They chose Kirchheimer limestone paving, 40 cm wide in random lengths and 3 cm thick, which they discovered at our Saarwellingen store.

Kirchheimer limestone has a light, even colour. Dense, low-porosity limestones of this kind are well suited to terraces and pool decks: sandblasted-brushed or tumbled finishes feel soft underfoot while remaining slip-resistant. The product page specifies frost resistance and recommended uses.

Installation

A local landscaper carried out the installation in about two and a half weeks; the materials were delivered to the site in Saarland.

For a long-lasting terrace, the paving is laid on a stable, well-drained base with a fall of about 1.5 to 2 % to shed water, using an adhesive and grout designed for outdoor use and natural stone. Our in-store advisers can recommend the right installation products.

The result

About 70 m² of light terrace, whose random lengths give a natural, less repetitive look.

Like any limestone, this surface benefits from a suitable water-repellent sealer and cleaning with pH-neutral products; acidic cleaners should be avoided.
