Armançon limestone flooring in a village house in Nuits-Saint-Georges

The project

In a 19th-century village house in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the owners were completely renovating the ground floor. They wanted a floor in regional stone, in the spirit of old buildings, laid over new underfloor heating.

The choices

They chose the light Armançon paving for the living areas, after comparing it with sandblasted brushed Semond Beige in our Ladoix-Serrigny showroom.

Armançon is a limestone quarried in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Each slab is cut and aged in our own workshops. Its “new medieval” finish, developed by our factory, gives a soft yet patinated surface with hand-chipped edges, in a light beige shade with blonde nuances that naturally matches Burgundy's traditional buildings.

Installation

A local tiler laid the floor in about two weeks on a dry screed, then applied a stain-proofing treatment.

Indoors, natural stone is bonded to a dry, flat screed with an adhesive suited to stone (light-coloured for light stones). It is compatible with underfloor heating. A protective treatment is applied after installation.

The result

About 80 m² of patinated stone flooring that gives the ground floor back the character of the house.

Day to day, a limestone floor is cleaned with a pH-neutral soap; a stain-proofing treatment, renewed according to use, preserves its appearance, especially in living areas and the kitchen.
