The BLUE STONES

Bluestone is a dense blue-grey limestone that develops a patina over time. We offer it for indoor and outdoor use: paving slabs, tiles, cobbles, pool coping, steps, edging, wall coping, bricks and screens, in Belgian bluestone, Ocean Blue and Blue Stone, tumbled, honed, sandblasted or chiselled.

The bluestone is a hard limestone, like the beige limestones found in France, but with a very particular shade: a gray-blue color to dark. This natural stone is recognizable by its fossils (shells) visible to the naked eye and its great durability over time.

The bluestone suits all uses, in outdoor landscaping as well as indoors. Thanks to its many finishes (sandblasted, sanded, aged, bush-hammered...), it offers a sober, elegant and authentic look. Whether for paving, pavers, steps or even wall cladding, bluestone brings a touch of natural nobility to your projects.

Minéral offers a wide range of products in stock, available in several formats, thicknesses and finishes, to meet all your outdoor landscaping needs (terrace, pool, garden path) as well as interior decoration (bathroom, worktop, floor, wall).

To ensure the longevity of your products in bluestone, good maintenance is essential. As soon as it is installed, apply a suitable water repellent to protect the surface. For regular cleaning, prefer a mild linseed-oil-based soap (such as Lithofin Wash and Clean).

In spring, particularly for surfaces in outdoor landscaping, an anti-moss treatment or a bleach-based cleaning product is recommended. These simple tips help preserve the original appearance of the bluestone, especially on pavers, slabs for terrace, pool copings or garden cladding.

Whatever the format chosen, our products are designed to last. Thanks to our permanent stock and our installation recommendations, you benefit from complete support to preserve the quality of your floor.

Blue stone is quarried in different regions of the world: Belgium, China, Vietnam, Turkey and Ireland. Each of these origins brings its own characteristics in terms of format, finishes, texture and shade.

At Minéral, we carefully select our products from reliable partners. Our range includes Hainaut blue stone, Blue Stone from China and Turkish Ocean Blue. All these stones are processed to ensure excellent durability, whether for flooring, cladding, paving or pavers.

Our showrooms display many formats, products and finishes of blue stone, so you can compare and choose according to your project. See the available stock.

Yes, blue stone is ideal for any outdoor landscaping. Thanks to its frost resistance and low water absorption, it is perfectly suited to outdoor flooring or garden features: terraces, pool copings, steps, drivable pavers, etc.

The choice of finish is crucial: a sandblasted or bush-hammered finish is preferred to ensure good grip underfoot, prevent slipping and maintain colour stability over time.

Our laying advice includes the use of draining mortar, proper management of slopes, and a protective treatment right from installation. The products in stock at Minéral are suited to this type of use and are offered in several formats to suit every project.

The Blue Stone develops a natural patina over time. It may lighten slightly in outdoor landscaping (particularly on a terrace or garden path), whereas indoors it keeps its original colour for longer, especially if the maintenance advice is followed.

The finishes (sandblasted, flamed or bush-hammered) change little and are recommended for outdoor pavers and paving. Smoother surfaces such as polished are not recommended outdoors as they are more sensitive to stains and acidic agents.

Thanks to our varied stock, you have a choice of several formats to suit your needs (slabs, pavers, pool copings...). All our products are available in different finishes to better blend into your surroundings.
